Field Study of Novel Storage Tank of Solar Water Heating System

In this paper thermo-hydrodynamic characteristics were investigated experimentally for a new type shell-helical coiled tube heat exchanger used as storage tank of closed loop solar water heater system. Triple concentric helical coils made copper tubes (12.5mm OD and 10mm ID) with diameter (207, 152.2, 97mm) outer, middle inner respectively. The experiments carried out during clear sky days (March April 2012). parameters studied in work are: history average temperature shell side the tank, collector gain, rejected from to efficiency, thermal effectiveness (storage tank), pressure drop. These at four different circulating mass flow rates (1.8, 3, 6, 9 l/min) two consuming modes supply namely no withdrawal, continuous withdrawal (1 l/min). results show that stratification is increased compared also increases time. Collector efficiency increasing circulation rates, withdrawn tank. drop decreases increase radiation .
